 A
 Aluk rapasan   =  The rules of funeral ceremony for the high nobility in Tana Toraja
 Aluk Todolo (aka.Alukta)  = original Trust Toraja society, which essentially is a belief in ancestral spirits.
 Arruan   =  migration groups who entered the Tana Toraja area in search of new residential areas

 Erong = container for the Toraja tomb made of wood. Used for people who come from middle social stratification or nobles.

        - Liang Paa' : a carved stone grave
        - Patane : Tomb of special building made to resemble a traditional house Tongkonan

 Ma'Bugi '   = a kind of ceremony that surrounded the village with a special song to ask the spirits of the ancestors in order to eliminate all the troubles and disasters are rampant.
 Ma 'Batang  = initial rate of death ceremony, held at Tongkonan for the high nobility.
 Ma 'Badong  = dancing with a circular formation is accompanied by songs and poems of grief, at the time of the funeral ceremony.

 Puang Matua   = highest god as the creator of the universe and its contents.
 Puya   = The spirits world (afterlife), it be inhabited by ancestral spirits who have reached the level of saintliness.

 Rapasan   = special ceremony for the death of the high nobility.
 Rambu Tuka '   = ceremony associated with human life in the world, held in the morning in the eastern part Tongkonan.
 Rambu Solo '   = ceremony associated with death, held in the afternoon in the west Tongkonan.
 Rante   = Place the flat and wide (= field)
 Rante Sarapuk   = Place of the ceremony as a sign of gratitude to the ancestors for the welfare and safety.
 Rante Simbuang   = The place of a special funeral ceremony for the high nobility.

 Sarapuk   = Altar stone receptacle in the worship of thanksgiving offerings to deata.
 Sarigan   =  Place to carry the bodies,  shaped like a traditional home Tongkonan.
 Sillik    = literally means stuffed. In a broader sense is as a form of burial for the people who come from low social stratification (slave), usually the bodies buried in the crevices of natural caves or in crevices of roots / tree trunks.
 Simbuang   = Menhir (standing stone) that serves as a symbol of the ancestors in the implementation of the death ceremony. Also be a place to tie the buffalo were slaughtered in the field before the ceremony for the royal party high mortality.

The meaning of the name is a country shaped like the moon and illuminated by the sun, which is a country that is a unified whole and intact with a system of power or rule of customary Aluk Todolo.
 Tongkonan  = House of Traditional Toraja, consisting of
                  - Tongkonan Bato'Ariri   = Tongkonan with function for the family residence in general)
                  - Tongkonan To Parengnge '  = Tongkonan that serves as the home of the head of a group of indigenous customary particular.
                  - Tongkonan Layuk = Tongkonan that serves as a regional government center alliance some custom union. And is the traditional term for a typical Toraja house first built by a particular community in the past, as a place of origin of all the customary rules of society.
 To Do (= Dao = Jao)  = People who live in higher areas, or in a symbolic show of a ruler.
 To Diong (= Jiong)  = People who live in lower areas, or in a symbolic show an originating from lower social classes.
